How to Use Your FES-UA Scholarship to Pay for Speech Therapy

As an approved Step Up For Students provider, Connected Kids Therapy can accept payments directly from your child's Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA) account. This means zero out-of-pocket costs for you.

Follow this step-by-step guide to locate us in the portal and authorize your direct payments.

📋 Before You Begin

  • Ensure your Step Up For Students parent portal login credentials are active.

  • Verify your child's FES-UA account shows an active, funded balance.

  • Keep the digital invoice or billing statement we emailed you handy.

🔍 Step 1: Find Us in Your Portal

  1. Go to the Step Up For Students login page and sign in.

  2. Select your child's active FES-UA scholarship tab for the current school year.

  3. On the main menu, click Find Providers or Provider Directory.

  4. Search for us using our official Step Up details:

    • Provider/Business Name: Connected Kids Therapy

    • Provider ID: 20246225

  5. Note our exact listing name to ensure a perfect match in the next steps.

✍️ Step 2: Create a Direct Pay Request

  1. Return to your main portal dashboard and click on My Funds or Direct Pay.

  2. Click the button labeled Submit New Direct Pay Request.

  3. Select Student: Choose the child receiving speech therapy.

  4. Choose Category: Select Specialized Services Providers (or Speech Therapy).

  5. Select Provider: Search and select Connected Kids Therapy from the pre-approved dropdown list using our Provider ID: 20246225.

📤 Step 3: Enter Bill Details and Upload

  1. Input Service Dates: Enter the exact start date and end date matching the invoice we sent you.

  2. Enter Amount: Type the exact total dollar amount shown on our invoice.

  3. Upload Invoice: Attach the clear PDF or JPEG copy of our invoice to the Upload Documentation section.

  4. Submit: Review the terms, check the certification boxes, and click Submit Request.

⏱️ Step 4: What Happens Next?

  • Provider Approval: The portal routes the request to us. We will log in on our provider end to digitally sign and confirm the dates of service.

  • Funding Release: Once we verify the claim, Step Up releases the funds directly from your child's scholarship account to our clinic.

  • Statements: Your portal dashboard will update to show the transaction as Approved and Paid.
